Hope you can understand how I've written this. Top 2nd button: Split seelcted item at loop selection, delete it, remove selection Top row first button: Split selected item at loop selection, mute, remove selection. Top row: Show I/O window, Show Env Window, Show FX Window, ByPass FX (all for current track), Bypass All FXĢnd Row: Toggle Min/Norma Track Height, Toggle Norm/Max track height, Save File, Mute selected tracks, Solo Selected Tracks The buttons (after creating keyboard shortcuts where these don't already exist): The big black round thing on the right (with the 4 arrows) Zoom In/Out Vertically and Zoom In/Out Horizontally The scroll wheel goes to select prev track/ next track, pressing it is Escape I use Normal mode and Red mode only at present - not Green or Blue. Yess, I've mucked around and changed my mind a few times but this seems to work well. You were right, best $40 spent (next to Reaper of course, most likely tomorrow) I'm thinking I can leave Escape and ~ off since my thumb can reach the adjacent keyboard Like for instance, apart from the Macros did you put Ctrl/Alt/Shift on there and if so which keys did you use? I think I'd want them so my left hand stays on the n52. Hey Nicholas, just curious what keys you found essential for editing and how you mapped them. Toggle to track maximise with left hand, zoom in, in, i with right hand,, seelct a range with mouse in right hand, use left hand to press the macro key on the n52 which splits selected item at loop selection then deletes it.ĭoes this make sense? Best $40 I ever spent, I think.

Left hand on n52, right hand on PC keyboard. I use it mainly for navigating, zooming and editing. Oh yes, and each key can have four states, so it's like having 56 keys!
You can also create macros which string together a number of keystrokes and assign the macro to one key on the n52. It has 14 keys plus various scrolling devices and otehr things - you can assign keystrokes to it, ie Reaper keyboard functions as well as mouse wheel actions. If you've got a few mpre brain cells than me, you'll have no problems getting it up and running.įor me, the n52 sits on the left, keyboard in middle, mouse on right. If it's better than mouse + N52, I'd use it on my main machine, and sometimes play on my TV with my media centre computer that has Steam installed too (protip: you can sync almost any game's savegames between computers automagically using Dropbox and Unix syslinks). The problem was user error, I'm pleased to say, not related to Reaper at all.

The reason I'm posting: I'm thinking of investing in a PS3 controller with bluetooth so I can try using a controller for PZ.
I own Controllermate, but it's so 'powerful' that I don't want to invest the time into developing a big controller profile until I'm sure the N52 is the best device for PZ.

It's actually really convenient The mapping software for the N52 hasn't run on an up-to-date mac in like 8 years. For most games like DoD and L4D there is only like 6 keys and the mappings are already correct on the N52. Anyone have any experience with Macs and the PS3 controller? Right now I use a (hilariously old) Belkin Nostromo N52 Speedpad for most of my gaming which OS X treats as a weird keyboard.
